You would think that as the mother of 12, 18, 20 children (I jest, I jest), I would have thrown a lot of parties in my day. However, that isn't the case. With my one little sweet princess, we have yet to have any sort of party for her. It started out with a conflict in christianing, so we haven't gotten to that yet (deciding god parents is quite the feat). Then with her very first birthday, my husband was deployed so we really just had a very intimate affair and there really hasn't been anything else requiring a big ole shin dig. EXCEPT NOW!!!!!!! My princess is going to be 2 years old!! Can you believe that?? 2....2 years old. For all of yall who were a part of our journey from before we conceived her, to her birth up to now, can you believe she is going to be 2 freaking years old already??? So We are having one hell of a party!!
I have decided that with my obession with Pinterest, I want to have a Pinterest Party! What that means is, I 100% aside from the help from my mom in the cooking of the food that will be served, will be creating this entire party solely from ideas and inspirations found on Pinterest.
That means everything from the desserts, the food, the beverages, the decor and party favors...RIGHT down to her outfit will all be inspired by Pinterest. Here is the kicker though.....It's all going to be pink. That's right.....PINK. Because we all know that Pink is Pimp and well my pretty little princess loves pink. She is such a girly girl already at her age it's nutty! So It's all going to be pink for her. Ahhhh the grand Ideas for an outdoor party (good lord pray for good weather!). I am even asking guests to please wear something pink if they chose. Food, drink, desserts and prizes...all Pink or Pink themed (aka braised beef (pinkish center...you get the idea).
I am so very excited. I am not currently home at the moment (yet again....we travel. I told you that would be quick) but once I return to TN shortly, I will begin my series of posts on the Pink Pinterest Party Planning!! Full of tutorials, recipes, and crafty goodness. Why right away? Because her party is in a few short weeks. We want to celebrate her birthday in October because we will be away (the 3 of us) at a retreat at a vacation destination during her birthday week and with Halloween the last weekend, we don't want a halloween themed party so it must be soon....like ASAP! There is a lot to do between now and then!
If you have any PINK Ideas that you think would be great for a 2 year olds party feel free to leave them! And be on the look out for some fabulous pink party fun!! I promise to link back to the Pin in which I found the inspiration!!
OH and if you haven't fallen prey to Pinterest yet, let me know. It's by invitation only and I have just a couple left. From there I expect you to pay it forward and invite some crafty mamas to Pin Heaven!!

Loyal readers.... Please read
Please take note that "My Life With One Eye Open" is obsolete. I've had a few sweet readers message and ask if this blog was still me. So just to confirm, yes. Same ole Me, with a makeover/face lift of sorts. All of this pinkness is just filler fluff until my blog is completed constructed.
Thank you again for your love and patience.

Friends....or just acquiantances?
Ever wonder if the people you surround yourself by are truly friends or merely acquiantances just passing through the halls of life near you not with you?
Have you ever had a defining moment in your friendship when you realize those you thought you could rely on the most, entrust the most, confide in the most really were just going through the motions not really listening, absorbing or supporting but instead just lingering about behind a mask of friendship?
When things get hard or ugly, are your friends truly there? Do they listen to your thoughts, formulate their own opinions based on how well they know you as a person or do they simply sit idly by and jump on the ship hatred and dismissal without as much as a nod or question or explanation?
It's moments like this that define who a person is. It's moments like this that make you re-evaluate your judgment. You become more guarded when developing new friendships yet at the same time it forces you to hold tight And appreciate the few true lasting non-judgmental friendships that remain.
It's those who chose to remember all of the good, all of the support, love and encouragement that had been given through the years without ever asking for anything in return. The selfless acts of friendship extended throughout time that are representative of true friendship. That acts then went unwarranted and unasked for yet you still felt compelled to step forward, speak up and do something to show your camaraderie and silent support in times when they are tough. That is a true friend.
An acquiantance can appear through the disguise of friendship. When shit hits the fan, are they at least respectful enough to say "hey what's going on?". Do they reach out and say " things may be hard right now but with the love and support you have given me, my friend, over the years we can work through and overcome" as friends would do. A true friend would wholeheartedly do the afore mentioned. An acquaintance doesn't pick up the phone to hear for themselves, an acquiantance doesn't shoot an email or text expressing their hurt or concern, an acquaintance simply sits idly by allowing you to hurt, allowing others to defame, attack, verbally beat you down all while either joining in on the mass assault or even worse says nothing at all.
That person is someone who was never a friend to begin with if they can dismiss you like yesterday's garbage without a second thought.
True friends are those who reach out and formulate their thoughts, lend support even if it still means in the end they feel it's best to severe ties with said friendship. The fact is, in all the ugly they loved you enough to tell you personally that they need to step back. They were grateful for all you had given of yourself that they cared enough to respect the need for closure. That is a friend that has deepened a ridge across your heart and your memory so while they aren't present in your physical life, they are forever in your heart in memory of the wonderful moments that your friendship carried through the years.
That acquaintance who turned a blind eye, threw away years of laughs, years of joy, years of tears all in a moment to join the mob hysteria ends up being like a ship passing in the night. Barely a memory because in time it all fades.
Eventually as dust settles and integrity returns to the soul, what's done can't be undone so hopefully the acquiantance can sleep at night feeling as if they did everything they could or at least for the better of themselves.
As for me, I'm a ride or die kind of friend. Unless something was physically done to me, I'll stand by my friends because everyone needs someone in their corner. Those who fail to see that and thrive on the pain of others or take joy in ripping them to shreds only act that way because they are lacking something in their lives. Insecure about their place in the friendships or ungrateful for all the support they received.
Witch hunts happen out of fear and the need to set an example. The actions taken by those who participate in that hunt are far more viscous, hate worthy and despicable than the crime the witch is being convicted of....... Without a fair trial.
Oh and lastly, just an FYI....grieving. People grieve differently. Some get drunk, some stay home quiet, some write, some try and stay busy. In the end if there is nothing you can do about it you can't just sit home and shrivel up and claim defeat. You pull yourself up by your big girl panties and move on. You have a life to live and by sitting home wollowing in self pity you just continue to concede. Instead take the lemons and limes that life handed you and make some kick ass Margaritas and toast life for taking out the things in your life that clearly you had ZERO need for.

Fresh Beginnings........
It's been quite sometime since I updated this blog. So I will give a run down in just a few sentences. We survived deployment. My husband came home early in September!!! That's enough about that.
Since my blog was dedicated to his deployment and he has returned, I have shifted focus a bit so in the new few weeks or so there will be a large number of changes with the blog so bear with me just a bit!
Well, F and I went just flew into TN from NY (HER FIRST PLANE TRIP!) only for the shortest trip in history because we are turning right around with my mom and driving back to get my husband this week (thanks mom, it will be such a wonderful change to have company on our 1100 mile journey AGAIN in a month). Crazy the amount of mileage my toddler has logged in her travel book in less than 2 years. She has been simply amazing with it all. I could not be more proud of her.
She took her first plane ride and this was not an easy flight. It was two express flights which means, teeny tiny planes the kind you have to walk out onto the tarmac and climb the airplane stairs to get in. Not an easy feat carrying a 27 pound toddler, a large carry on, a huge ::cough Purse aka another carry on cough:: and her activity backpack. Not easy indeed. Luckily, the airline allowed me to wheel our huge joggy stroller onto the tarmac where the baggage guy then took it before my eyes and stuffed it under the plane. US Airways was amazing!! Not a smudge nor scratch on our stroller during 2 flights everything was perfect, no delays, we were running a little early which was nice.
Now F's first flight. She took her shoes off like a big girl and walked through the security gate all by herself without mommy like such a big girl. I was so proud of her! They said I could carry her but she wanted to walk. She played in the airport terminal, making everyone giggle at her craziness.
On the first flight she promptly fell asleep in my lap (the first time in a very long time). Then woke to have a snack and talk to everyone around her. Never crying at all. She was so brave and was excited to being going for a ride on a plane.
The second flight we had a few hour layover in the terminal where she actually got to watch our plane come in and see that we were getting on a plane. She was so excited!
This last flight she simply had a snack, played with her toys and recited her numbers for everyone. She was such a good girl. Even fellow passengers remarked at how great she did. At least now I can check off this traveling fear off of my list since once again my little girl proved me wrong. I thought for certain I would be that mom on the plane begging my child to stop screaming.
As soon as she saw my parents when we got out of baggage claim she nearly leaped from her stroller in excitement screaming " MY PAPA, MY PAPA!" Clearly we had been gone too long for her liking. She was so excited to be home again and see her favorite dogs and THEIR NEW 8 puppies....yes they had another litter by a very huge accident. They are beautiful and healthy and all of them are F's according to her. hahah!
So this very difficult chapter (year) of our lives is almost to a close. Once we get back up north to pick up my husband and head home to TN, things will finally be getting back to some sort of normalcy. My little girl will have daddy back, I will have my husband back and we can begin to heal from the events of this very trying year. What doesn't break us, makes us stronger but in the end Family is the ONLY thing that matters. No one else that may walk in or out of our lives ever will leave more than a distant memory but never a lasting impact because eventually they too shall fade as if they never existed. So be it, I have all that I need anything or anyone else is just gravy.
